I. A propos
Philippe Trens earned his Ph.D. in materials sciences from the Université of Provence, specifically from the « Centre de Thermodynamique et Calorimétrie du CNRS » in Marseilles, France, in 1994.
Following a three-year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Reading (UK) within the research group led by Dr. M. J. Hudson, he assumed the role of Lecturer in 1999 at the National Graduate School of Chemistry in Montpellier, France.
In 2005, he attained a Habilitation degree, showcasing his scholarly contributions. Subsequently, he advanced to the position of Professor in 2006.
Philippe Trens specializes in exploring the adsorption properties of porous materials such as mineral oxides, carbons, or metal-organic frameworks. His research encompasses the advancement and application of sophisticated experimental techniques associated with thermodynamics at interfaces. With a prolific academic career, he has authored over 150 peer-reviewed papers and international conferences

Sorption of vapour mixtures using the 13X zeolite as sorbent
The top Figure exemplifies the sorption of pure vapors and vapor mixtures of water and methanol using a 13X zeolite. The bottom Figures are the simulation of water (a) and methanol (b) adsorbed in the cavities of the zeolite. Different scientific aspects are of interest in these results. The water/methanol sorption selectivity of the 13X zeolite could be demonstrated. The composition of the water/methanol adsorbed phase could be calculated by assuming IAST hypotheses. The 13X zeolite confirmed its a priori expected hydrophilic nature.
