The researchers of the Institute Charles Gerhardt Montpellier are deeply involved in the higher education institutions of the Occitanie region in the south of France.
The ICGM is particularly linked to the doctoral program Sciences Chimiques Balard (ED 459), which is included in the degree and research programs of the Université de Montpellier (UM) and of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Montpellier (ENSCM). The ICGM is also involved in the doctoral programs CBS2 Sciences Chimiques et Biologiques pour la Santé (ED 168) and Gaïa–Sciences du vivant et de l'Environnement et des Sciences et Technologies (ED 584).

The Pôle chimie Balard proposes in its educational portfolio a wide range of university degree programs connected to the various fields of expertise of its research institutes:
- Degree programs for and by research, for the public and private sectors,
- Engineering programs oriented towards research and innovation to meet the expectations of the private sector,
- Specialized programs in sectors that will boost economic development and create jobs.

The Université de Montpellier (UM)
The Université de Montpellier provides multidisciplinary degree programs with a strong professional character. Degree programs in the broad areas of “Law, Economics, Management" and "Sciences, Technologies, Health", leading to Bachelors and Masters qualifications are thus offered.
The doctoral degree offering is particularly developed at the Université de Montpellier. Oriented towards the challenges emerging from society, these programs are supported and continually developed by the doctoral colleges.
The Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Montpellier
The primary mission of the ENSCM is to train high-level chemical engineers having an in-depth knowledge in all areas of chemistry and possessing a strong scientific and cultural background, enabling them to adapt quickly and take on positions of responsibility.
The ENSCM offers three types of programs :
