The Institut Charles Gerhardt Montpellier (ICGM) is pleased to inform you that Guillaume Maurin, Professor in the unit’s Department of Porous and Hybrid Materials (D3), has just been named a Senior Member of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF) as part of the Fundamental Chair.

Distinguished for the exceptional quality of his research project, Guillaume Maurin is recognized for his major advances in the field of MOFs. His research focuses on understanding the flexibility of this family of materials and using this unique property for gas separation applications governed by mechanical pressure; the design of new adsorbents for energy (heat pumps) and environmental (decontamination of ambient air) applications; and the development of mixed membranes for CO2 capture and natural gas purification. These topics are addressed by molecular modeling, combining Monte Carlo approaches to high-throughput screening and classical force-field molecular dynamics, in constant liaison with experimental tools.

As a reminder, the IUF’s mission is to foster the development of high-level research and strengthen interdisciplinarity. Guillaume Maurin’s mandate at the IUF will take effect on October 1, 2023, for a period of 5 years.
