On September 1st, 2013, Nicolas Louvain has been appointed as assistant professor at the Laboratory for Aggregates, Interfaces and Materials for Energy, Charles Gerhardt Institute for Molecular Chemistry and Materials in Montpellier. In 2008, he obtained his Ph.D. degree in inorganic chemistry (dir. Prof. Nicolas Mercier) after having studied hybrid perovskite materials from a fundamental point of view with a dualexperimental - theoretical approach, especially the structure-property relationships (electronic conductivity, optical band gap, etc.)

Nicolas Louvain graduated from Paris Sud University (Orsay) in inorganic chemistry, where he worked on coordination polymer (CP) nanoparticles, their synthesis and magnetic properties. . During his post-docs, in Manchester, UK, and Kyoto, Japan, his scientific interest was focused on (porous) coordination polymers, from their synthesis towards the understanding of their intriguing properties (adsorption, morphology, structuration and texturation, etc.).
From January 2012, Nicolas was a post-doc, and a research and teaching assistant, at the Institute of Chemistry of Clermont-Ferrand (University Blaise Pascal) and worked on the rational synthesis of metal (oxy)fluorides as electrode materials for advanced Li-ion batteries.

Here in Montpellier, he will work on the synthesis and formulation of electrode materials for Li-ion and Na-ion batteries and investigate their detailed electrochemical behavior.
