Camille Bakkali-Hassani, a research scientist at CNRS within the Chemistry & Macromolecular Materials Department (D2) of the Institut Charles Gerhardt Montpellier (ICGM), has been awarded the 2025 Young Researcher Prize by the French Polymer Group (GFP).
A distinction that recognizes excellence and scientific commitment
The GFP Young Researcher Prize aims to highlight an early-career scientist who has made an original and significant contribution to the field of polymers.
This year, the award acknowledges the quality, originality, and impact of Camille Bakkali-Hassani’s research, as well as his outstanding engagement within the polymer science community.
Through this prize, the GFP recognizes a career path already marked by exemplary creativity and rigor, and one that holds strong promise for the future of materials science.
Research at the heart of contemporary scientific challenges
Camille’s work is fully aligned with major current challenges in polymer chemistry and sustainable materials.
His research focuses on catalysis applied to polymers—initially to finely control their synthesis and macromolecular dimensions. He later turned to innovative catalytic processes to design dynamic covalent materials with controlled rheological properties.
This approach seeks to better understand catalyst behavior within crosslinked matrices by combining molecular, thermomechanical, and rheological studies.
It also incorporates a strong sustainability dimension, through the use of bio-based monomers or monomers derived from chemical recycling, in full coherence with ICGM’s commitment to responsible chemistry.
A recognition that reflects the excellence upheld at ICGM
By honoring Camille Bakkali-Hassani, the GFP highlights the dynamism and high quality of the research conducted at ICGM, as well as Camille’s active contribution to advancing polymer science.
